MERCY MEDICINE CLINIC RECEIVES $2,500 GRANT FROM BANK OF AMERICA

FLORENCE – Bank of America in Florence donated $2,500 to Mercy Medicine Clinic on Tuesday, a generous gesture that falls well into step with the financial entity’s position of giving back to the community.

Jeff Jones, community market president for Bank of America in Florence, presented the check to Mercy Medicine Clinic’s executive director, Kaye Allen. He emphasized that the contribution derives from Bank of America’s overall national philanthropic strategy that delivers on a local level.

“The Bank of America Foundation is committed to making sure that we give back to the agencies making a difference within the communities in which we live and work,” Jones said.

And while many financial business entities are tightening their purse strings during these tough economic times, Jones emphasized that such circumstances are cause for even greater involvement in the community.

“We see an even greater need for organizations like Mercy Medicine, which have become even more crucial in economic times like this than just a few years ago,” he said.

Kaye Allen, executive director of Mercy Medicine Clinic, praised the continued good stewardship of Bank of America and its outreach to aid the community.

“We are very grateful to Bank of America and its ongoing recognition of the importance of Mercy Medicine’s mission to provide healthcare to the indigent and working poor of our community,” she said. “Their generosity helps make certain that our patients will continue receiving the medical attention they need and deserve.”

Mercy Medicine Clinic, which was established in 1994, is a free, Christian medical clinic that serves the indigent and working poor of Florence and Dillon counties. In addition to primary medical care, Mercy also features dental and retinal clinics, as well as a non-dispensing pharmacy.
